Research in the Shogren lab at Wake Forest University lies at the intersection of speciation, behavior, and evolutionary ecology. How do biotic and abiotic conditions influence reproductive isolation and introgression between species? We want to understand the genetic, physiological, and behavioral consequences of divergence and hybridization. Using field data on behavioral ecology in combination with genome sequence data, we study how selection and evolutionary history shape and define species boundaries.
